Newly constructed dog kennels required a chemical resistant, durable coating
THE CHALLENGE
The client required a protective polyurea coating for their newly constructed dog kennels. It needed to be durable enough to withstand the wear and tear of the canine occupants, as well as be easy to clean to keep the kennels hygienic.
OUR SOLUTION
There were over 20 kennels to coat, which included an internal area with access to external runs. The concrete kennels were pre-prepared with a layer of resin screed. This was then ground down to achieve the correct profile for a penetrating primer.
Ultimate Coatings installed a 2mm layer of POLYSHIELD HT-100 F UB, a fast-setting high performance pure polyurea elastomer, onto the floors and walls in the kennels and the corridor floors were also coated providing the staff with an easy to clean and maintain the facility. This product provides excellent protection from chemical exposure, such as animal waste and harsh cleaning chemicals, as well as temperature resistance for cleaning equipment such as steamers and specialist floor cleaning equipment.
The coating was spray applied with a cross-hatch method, using a 20mm corner fillet detail, providing a continuous seamless layer of protection from wall to floor. The grey coating was left exposed, leaving a clean semi-gloss finish to the kennels.
Feedback from the staff at the kennels has been great, they are extremely happy with the final product and even the dogs have given their approval!
